Creating your Art glass

 Process of placing an order

A one on one meeting with a Coastal Art Glass representative can be held during regular business hours or by appointment at your convenience. During this meeting, it is best to have measurements for your desired application, any decorative tile, wall-paper, and fabrics or other materials being used in the area. To assist you in your design choice there are over 30 years worth of photographs to be viewed to give different and unique perspective to your individual design or you may feel free to present a design idea for development. There are multiple glass manufacturers samples available to choose colors and textures from to attain your desired effect.  Please visit as often as you like during our regular business hours to be sure that the design for your art glass application not only meets but exceeds your expectations. Designs from outside of the Coastal Art Glass studio are also welcome. Coastal Art Glass works with home-owners, interior designers, architects, contractors, business owners and committees.

The Process of Building Your Art Glass

After the first meeting, where measurements and design are established, a hand-drawn, full size design will be prepared. Once the design is completed, it will be available for you to view and make adjustments. When you approve the design, and colors have been selected, the building process can begin.

There are many stages to the building process. The first step is to make a duplicate of the original design. This duplicate will be turned into pattern pieces for the glass to be cut with. All of the glass is cut by hand and hand foiled or leaded depending upon the type of window. The following step is to piece the glass together and solder the joints. The final step is to cement and/or clean the glass.

Lead Time and Pricing

Our average lead-time from the date the order is placed is approximately five to twelve weeks. This time frame is based on the status of orders placed prior to yours, availability of materials, and the intricacy of your design.

Pricing is based on design intricacy, size, and if there are any specialty materials used. We are happy to work within any project budgeting constraints to make your requirements and budget work together.
